Itinerary

Sat. July 28th - USA to Dublin
Depart your hometown and take an overnight flight.  Dinner is served on flight.

Day 1


Sun. July 29th
Dublin Arrival & Kilkenny.
After arriving & completing customs & immigration  our CIE Tours driver/guide Dave Yeates will welcome us to Ireland and escort us  to the coach.  We begin our drive across the Wicklow Mountains to see the 6th century monastic ruins of Glendalough.  The Visitor Centre explains how St. Kevin founded this settlement.  Continue our drive to the medieval town of Kilkenny and check into our centrally located hotel.  Enjoy some free time to relax or explore the area on your own before dinner. Day 2


Mon. July 30th Dunbrody Ship & Hook Lighthouse

This morning we travel southeast to John’s hometown of New Ross to visit the Dunbrody Emigrant Ship.  This is a replica of  a sailing vessel built in 1845 to transport emigrants from Ireland to North America.  We continue on to the coast to Hook Lighthouse, one of the oldest operational lighthouses in the world.  Retrun to Kilkenny where the balance of the day is free to explore the pubs and restuarants. Day 3


Tue. July 31st  Rock of Cashel  & Old Midleton Distillery

Depart Kilkenny and travel southwest with our first stop  at the Rock of Cashel where we will take a guided tour or these beautiful ancient ruins.  We continue on  to the town of Midleton.  Here we will visit the Old Midleton Distillery.  We will take a guided walking tour through the old buildings and see the largest pot still in the world as we learn how whiskey is made.  At the end of the tour we will sample the world famous Jameson Whiskey.  Our final destination today is the seaside village of Kinsale.  We will have time to  explore on your own before dinner. Day 4

Wed. Aug. 1st Blarney Castle
Today we make the short drive to the famous Blarney Castle.  You will have plenty of time to walk the beautiful grounds and climb to the top of the Castle to kiss the magical “Stone of Eloquence”.  This is also the best shopping opportunity all under one roof at Blarney Woolen Mills.  We return to Kinsale with the rest of the day and evening to enjoy on your own.  Tonight  try one of the local restaurants.  (Kinsale is known as the Gourmet Capital of Ireland). Day 5

Thurs. Aug. 2nd.  Glengarriff & Killarney Leaving Kinsale
We drive along the beautiful coastline of Cork traveling though many attractive little fishing towns.  In Glengarriff we will take a short boat ride to Garnish Island to visit the beautiful gardens.  These gardens have a collection of plants and tress from all over the globe that flourish in a scenic setting of mountains and the sea.   We continue on to Killarney where you will have time to relax or wander around  town before dinner.  Killarney Towers Hotel

Day 6

Fri. Aug. 3rd  Ring of Kerry & Sheep Dogs
Today we explore the Ring of Kerry, 100 miles of marvelous scenery from Ireland’s highest peaks to it’s golden beaches.   Our first stop we meet a local farmer who will introduce you to his flock of sheep and his two amazing dogs.  He puts on a demonstration that you won’t forget.  We continue our way around the Ring and return to Killarney with time to explore or relax. Tonight we will enjoy dinner and entertainment at Kate Kearney’s Cottage in the Gap of Dunloe.  The night consists of a superb meal and traditional entertainment. Killarney Towers Hotel

Day 7

Sat. Aug. 4th  Cliffs of Moher & Bunratty
We depart Killarney today and take the short ferry ride across the Shannon River en route to view the breathtaking Cliffs of Moher.  This impressive rock rises almost 700 feet above the Atlantic and stretches for 5 miles along the coast.   We will drive through a bit of the Burren, a region of limestone hills containing and prehistoric stone monuments.  Our final destination is Bunratty where your hotel is situated across from Bunratty Castle and the famous Durty Nelly’s Pub.  Tonight we will enjoy dinner in our hotel.  Bunratty Castle Hotel.

Day 8

Sun. Aug 5th  IRISH NATIONAL STUD & DUBLIN
Today we travel back east through the midlands and farming country to County Kildare.  We make a visit to the Irish National Stud where you will learn the history of and current trends of horse breeding in Ireland.  We will see some of the magnificent horses and also take a walk around the beautiful Japanese Gardens, which were established in 1908. We continue on to Dublin and check into our hotel.  Tonight you are free to enjoy one of Dublin’s many fine restaurants or perhaps just have some pub grub.  The hotel is very centrally located and the city train runs right past the door.  Ashling Hotel, Dublin.

Day 9

Mon. Aug. 6th  Dublin Highlights
Today we  enjoy a panoramic tour of Dublin City.  Dublin is an ancient settlement founded by the Vikings in the 9th Century.  We will visit the Guinness Storehouse to see exhibits on how this world famous stout as first created.  We end our tour at the roof top Gravity Bar overlooking the city.  Here you will enjoy a pint !   The rest of the afternoon is free to relax or explore Dublin on your own.  Tonight we will enjoy another wonderful night of Traditional Entertainment and a meal at the Merry Ploughboy Pub. Cost: $3,550.00 per person based on a min. of 20 people.  If we do not reach the min. the tour may be cancelled or a price adjustment may be necessary.  You will be notified 100 days prior to departure.

Single Supplement: A single room is available for an additional $435.00
Trip Cancellation Insurance is  $179.00

Not Included: Tip to driver  & Trip Insurance.   

A Deposit of $250 per person is due no later than April 9, 2012.  $100 will become non-refundable unless the tour is cancelled by Tours Galore.


Final Payment is due by  May 5, 2012
