Itinerary
Day 2
Wed. Aug. 29 - Arrive in Dublin
After clearing customs/immigration we will be met by our driver/guide Dave Yeates. Dave will escort us and our luggage to the coach and begin our journey. We head south out of Dublin through Wicklow with our first stop in Glendalough, an ancient monastic site dating back to the 6th Century. You will have a chance to walk the area where you will find a round tower, beautiful lakes and ancient ruins. We continue on to the medieval city of Kilkenny. You will have a chance to relax and freshen up or take the short 10 min. walk into town and explore this wonderful city on your own before we meet for dinner. New Park Hotel, Kilkenny
Day 3
Thurs. Aug. 30
This morning we make the short drive to New Ross, Co. Wexford (John’s hometown). Here we will have an opportunity to board the Dunbrody, a replica of a sailing vessel built in 1845 to transport emigrants to North America. After our visit we make the lovely drive down to the Hook Lighthouse, one of the oldest operational lighthouses in the world. We return to Kilkenny with the remainder of the afternoon and evening to wander around town and enjoy it’s many pubs and restaurants. New Park Hotel, Kilkenny
Day 4
Fri. Aug. 31
We depart Kilkenny this morning and head for Co. Kildare. Here we will visit the Irish National Stud where you will learn the history and current trends of horse breeding in Ireland and see some of these magnificent horses. You will also have the opportunity to walk around the beautiful Japanese Gardens, which were established in 1908. After the visit it’s time for some whiskey tasting. We will stop at the Tullamore Dew Distillery and take the tour to see how this smooth whiskey is made. Our final destination today is Mullingar. Day 5
Sat. Sept. 1
Today we head to Ireland’s capital city of Dublin. Those wishing to go to the Notre Dame vs. Navy game will be dropped off at the stadium (tickets not included ) and the rest of us will take a panoramic tour of Dublin and give you some free time on your own before we return to pick up the group after the game. We’ll head back to our hotel with the remainder of the evening free. Bloomfield House Hotel, Mullingar
Day 6
Sun. Sept. 2
We depart Mullingar today and head across the midlands to Strokestown Park & Famine Museum in Co. Roscommon. We will have the opportunity to walk around the beautiful gardens and also tour the Famine Museum. We’ll continue on to Co. Mayo and check into our hotel in Westport, which is situated in the center of town. You will have some time to explore on your own before we meet for dinner. Clew Bay Hotel, Westport
Day 7
Mon. Sept. 3
Today we’ll take the scenic drive around Achill Island. We will take our time and enjoy some of Dave’s detours along the way. We return back to Westport with the remainder of the afternoon and evening free to check out the pubs and restaurants. Clew Bay Hotel, Westport
Day 8
Tue. Sept. 4
Our first stop today will be Ballintubber Abbey which was founded in 1216. We continue on north where we pay a visit to Parkes Castle . Our final destination today is Letterkenny where you will have time to relax before meeting for dinner. Station House Hotel, Letterkenny
Day 9
Wed. Sept. 5
Today we will make the short drive to Derry City in Northern Ireland. Here we will take a walking tour of the city to learn about the troubles and what the city has survived. After our tour we are leaving it up to Dave. No matter which direction we go it’s going to be beautiful. We return to Letterkenny with the remainder of the afternoon and evening free. Day 10
Thurs. Sept. 6
Today we depart Letterkenny and make a lovely visit to the Ulster American Folk Park. The Park explores the historical link between Ulster (Northern Ireland) and America. After our few hours at the park we continue on to Co. Roscommon and check into the magnificent Kilronan Castle Hotel. You will have the remainder of the day to relax at the castle. Day 11
Fri. Sept. 7
Today we leave the castle and take the 2 hour drive to Dublin. Here we will visit the Guinness Storehouse & Kilmainham Jail. You will have some free time on your own before we depart this evening for Taylor’s Three Rock Pub for a great dinner and lively show with music, singing and step dancing. Cost: $ 2,311.00 per person LAND ONLY based on a min. of 20 people.
Price Includes: 9 nights hotel accommodations at 3 & 4 star hotels, transport by deluxe motor coach with Dave as your Driver/Guide, 9 full breakfasts, 6 dinners including Taylors Three Rock, Visits and admissions to: Glendalough, Dunbrody, Hook Lighthouse, National Stud, Tullamore Dew Distillery, Strokestown Museum, Achill Island, Balllintubber Abbey, Parkes Castle, Walking tour of Derry
Airfare is NOT INCLUDED. Due to heavy volume and large non-refundable deposits we could not secure air fare at this time. We will re-evaluate the situation 100 days prior to departure when we believe air space will open up. If we do not reach the minimum number of passengers at that time the tour may be cancelled or a price adjustment may be necessary.
If we reach the minimum of 20 we will be able to book individual air fares. All this is due to the number of people traveling over for the Notre Dame vs. Navy game. Estimated air fare at that time is $1,300.00
Single Supplement: A single room is available for an additional $470.00
Not Included: Tip to the Driver/Guide (recommended $10 per day per person)
Tickets to the game. You can purchase these tickets through CIE Tours $250.00 or $300.00 or you may purchase them yourself another way.
Trip Cancellation Insurance is available for $179.00
A Deposit of $250 is due to secure a space no later than May 18, 2012 $100 will be come non-refundable unless the tour is cancelled by Tours Galore.
Final payment is due no later than June 7, 2012
Check is preferred for deposit but all major credit cards are accepted for final payment.
